Chemical Substance Management

With the wide use of chemicals in the world, laws and regulations are becoming increasingly strict worldwide for proper risk management of chemical substances in the supply chain, from manufacturing to disposal.
In order to prevent and minimize damage to the human body and the environment caused by the handling of chemical substances, it is necessary to obtain scientific information on the hazards and toxicity of chemical substances, assess their risks, and handle them in a proper manner.
Internationally, safety is defined in ISO/IEC Guide 51:2014 as "freedom from risk which is not tolerable". As for chemical safety, we aim to reduce and control the risk of chemicals in use an acceptable level.

Our Initiatives

We are keeping track of information on chemical substances that we handle or that are contained in our products through surveys of raw materials and other means. For new raw materials and similar, we also strive to eliminate or reduce substances of concern through measures such as conducting supplier surveys.
We proactively collect scientific information on chemical substances that we handle or contained in our products through literature surveys, safety tests, etc. We then conduct risk assessments based on the findings to take measures to eliminate, substitute, or reduce substances of concern, thereby reducing the impact on human health and the environment to an acceptable level.
Through these measures, we aim to prevent accidents by minimizing employees’ contact with hazardous substances throughout processes from research and development to manufacturing.
Based on the knowledge obtained, we supply our customers with the information through safety data sheet (SDS), GHS labels, and warning labels and ask them to use substances appropriately.
In addition, we collect information on how our products are applied and processed in the supply chain until they become final products, assess product liability (PL) risk, and reduce the risk of our products toward human health and the environment to an acceptable level so that customers can use our products in safety and with peace of mind.
The results of raw material surveys and supply chain information are also used when we calculate greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and carbon footprints (CFP) based on the GHG Protocol. We strive to provide products that benefit the environment by managing our chemical substances.
