R&D Hubs
Material Development Laboratory (Befu, Himeji)
In the field of super absorbent polymers, we leverage our long-standing technical strength and originality to develop new, higher-functionality products. In the energy field, we are developing highly functional additives and binders for rechargeable lithium-ion batteries (LIB), as well as energy-efficient nano-composite insulating coating materials. In the electronics materials field, we are engaged in the development of silicon oxide precursors, and in the environmental materials field, we are working on new water-based emulsion products aimed at reducing environmental impact.

Production and Process Engineering Laboratory (Befu, Himeji)
The Production and Process Engineering Laboratory is working on commercialization research with the aim of establishing manufacturing processes for new products and improving those for existing ones, an example being the development of high-purity electronics gases. The lab is currently pressing ahead with the development of new technologies and products that will contribute to the realization of a carbon-neutral society.
SEIKA R&D Center
We are constructing a new lab building at the Befu site (Harima-cho, Kako-gun, Hyogo). By integrating the R&D functions of the Material Development Laboratory and the Production and Process Engineering Laboratory at a single site, we aim to accelerate the development of new products by improving the research environment.
The concepts behind the SEIKA R&D Center are “resonance among people,” “fusion of technologies,” and “taking on future challenges.” This new lab building will feature spaces designed to naturally attract people, serving as a hub where diverse talents gather, inspire one another, and spark new interactions.
With a total floor area of approximately 4,000 square meters, the four-storied SEIKA R&D Center is scheduled for completion in March 2026.
