- To focus our corporate initiatives on environmental protection and assurance of safety and health by adopting the policies of Responsible Care, a set of voluntary initiatives to ensure a responsible approach throughout the entire product lifecycle from development to final disposal.

- We are developing policies on Quality, the Environment, and Safety based on long-term and annual plans
- We establish organization and rules for steadily promoting to reexamine the results of previous year's plans, the state of progress and the review of activities;
- Our Responsible Care(Quality, Environment and Safety) Committee is committed to the following issues;

- Assurance of security and accident prevention
- Reduce of the environmental impact
- Assurance of a chemicals safety and a product quality
- Assurance of safety during transportation
- We have already registered with the revised ISO9001:2000 standard for quality management systems company-wide and acquired registration of the ISO 14001 certification as part of our integrated system encompassing all our Works.
- In Feburary 2009, Befu Works, Himeji Works and Chiba Works acquired OSHMS (Occupational Safety and Health Management System) certification respectively from the Japan Industrial Safety and Health Association (JISHA). Sumitomo Seika has been actively pursuing to maintain and enhance management for safety / health and realization of ideal working conditions for employees.
